On-demand jet charter platform Victor announced that it will work towards promoting wider adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by leveraging its learnings from two years of offering SAF directly to private jet flyers.

Victor is partnering with Finnish SAF producer Neste. To date, the company said it has had 427 SAF bookings, with average spend per booking at AED4,500, helping it achieve total CO2 reduction of 653 tonnes.

Sharing its learnings, the company said that: “One in five private aircraft charterers are willing to pay an additional AED4,500 for SAF per booking, providing an average carbon emission reduction of 1.5 tonnes. The average amount of Jet-A fossil fuel Victor customers choose to replace with SAF is 30% per booking. Victor’s aim in 2024 is for at least one in five MENA customers to buy SAF for their jet charter bookings”.

The company said it is working on two-pronged approach of increasing voluntary SAF demand and encourage adoption of its SAF blueprint by other business and commercial aviation companies across MENA.

“Our results in partnership with Neste evidence many flyers acknowledge they are living beyond their environmental means and will therefore voluntarily pay more for their carbon consumption when they fly.  We strongly advocate for the wider aviation industry to accelerate SAF demand by enabling all flyers to voluntarily buy SAF,” said Toby Edwards, co-CEO, Victor.

Victor recently relocated its headquarters to Abu Dhabi from the UK.

Victor and Neste signed a partnership agreement in June 2022 for SAF purchases.

Aviation business conglomerate Avia Solutions Group has transferred its headquarters to Dublin, Ireland, making it the second largest Irish-registered aviation business behind Ryanair.

Jonas Janukenas, CEO, Avia Solutions Group said that moving the company’s headquarters to Ireland was driven by its plans for further expansion. Its corporate aviation firm KlasJet operates a fleet of 14 Bombardier and Boeing business jets, making around 1,200 charter flights a year. The firm recently purchased a newly refurbished Boeing 737-300 aircraft for the UK charter market.

Ireland is known as the hub of aviation,” said Janukenas. “A large number of aviation companies are located here, hence, being closer to the aviation community we will be able to implement the group’s development plans faster and maintain market leadership.”

According to the CEO, investors from the US and Europe purchasing company shares on the Dublin Stock Exchange was another reason behind the relocation to Ireland.

The group also has offices in the US, Lithuania, United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Australia.

Avia Solutions Group is an aircraft leasing, maintenance and insurance services company with a fleet of around 165 aircraft. The group also provides pilot and crew training and ground handling.

Companies owned by the group also include air charter specialists Chapman Freeborn, FBO and MRO Biggin Hill Hangar Company.

Air charter specialist Chapman Freeborn has delivered humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey following the disaster last month.

The combined death toll in Turkey and Syria is thought to have surpassed 50,000. Both nations were devastated by two earthquakes on February 6th, followed by another two on February 20th.

The firm’s humanitarian Emergency Response Team said it has worked around the clock to source and secure aircraft in what has become a “volatile market with ever-dwindling capacities”.

Despite the challenges, Chapman Freeborn said it has chartered numerous aid flights to affected regions from the US, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Spain, Belgium, India, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Singapore and the Philippines.

Neil Dursley, chief commercial officer, Chapman Freeborn said he travelled to Dubai shortly after the first earthquake to meet with Giuseppe Saba, CEO, International Humanitarian City, to discuss how the firm could assist.

“The tragic situation in Turkey and Syria is heart-breaking,” said Dursley. “The Chapman Freeborn Emergency Response Team was activated immediately upon learning of the initial huge earthquake.”

According to Dursley, the years of civil war have made delivering aid to Syria very challenging. However, the firm said its team navigated embargoes and closed borders, negotiating with local authorities, to ensure the aid reaches those in need.

David Tasker, director, Government & Humanitarian, Chapman Freeborn said: “The worldwide compassion expressed following this disaster just underlines all that is good amongst the human race. The whole aviation industry and associated industries were quick to react, with Chapman Freeborn proud to be at the forefront with their support.”

The company, part of the Avia Solutions Group, said it will continue to deliver aid to the nations, where millions of people continue to be affected by the events.

“Our teams work relentlessly to help those in need and the efforts of the whole industry must be commended,” said Tasker. “We will of course continue to support people in the affected regions over the coming weeks and months.”

Ahmed has more than 25 years’ experience in government and private sectors in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  Before joining RoyalJet, he was general manager of Abu Dhabi Airports. He also spent 12 years at Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) where he became vice president for Commercial and Government Affairs.

Olly WaltersGama has announced that the United Arab Emirates
General Civil Aviation Authority (‘UAE GCAA’) has awarded Gama Support Services
FZE UAE
CAR 145 Approval, permitting it to undertake Line Maintenance on Challenger 604
and 605 business jets and King Air B300 turboprop aircraft.

This builds on the recent achievement of GSS FZE’s sister company, Gama Aviation FZE, becoming one of the first UAE
based business jet operators to achieve CAR Part M Maintenance Management
Approval and the creation of a new and exclusive VIP FBO (Fixed Base Operation) at Sharjah International Airport
earlier this year.

Future investment by Gama at
Sharjah International Airport includes the further development hangar
facilities, additional maintenance approvals and an increase in the number of
locally employed engineers, all headed by Oliver Walters, Gama’s engineering manager.

“We are delighted that the
UAE GCAA has recognised Gama’s commitment to investing, supporting and growing
business aviation services in the region,” said Dave Edwards, managing director,
Gama Aviation FZE. “Our Sharjah FBO has established itself as a ‘stress-free’
gateway for business and private visitors to Sharjah, Dubai
and the Northern Emirates and the first choice technical stop for business jet
operators through the Middle East. I know our
customers will appreciate the additional maintenance and management services we
have been approved to provide.”

The post London Oxford welcomes heavy jets for Olympics appeared first on Corporate Jet Investor.

London Oxford and BBJLondon Oxford Airport has reported a notable increase in the number
of heavy jets using the airport in the weeks leading up to the Olympics in London. Compared with
the same period of last year it welcomed 180% more Gulfstreams, Global Express
and Falcon 7X aircraft and benefitted from the fact that with one London airport full, it saw its first use by Boeing Business Jets.

These heavy jets accounted
for over 50 slots, headed primarily for the USA or Middle East
and endorsing the investment by the airport’s owners, enabling it to regularly accept aircraft such as the 55-tonne Embraer
Lineage (EMB-190) and larger Airbus types.

Sister airport, The Barclays
London Heliport, also reported a notable increase in activity in the week
before the Games, a 63% increase in what is normally the quieter ‘holiday
season’ period.  The heliport welcomed new visitors, including Games
sponsors and corporates taking advantage of the fact that the heliport is the
only central London
landing site permitted for private and chartered helicopter use during the
Games.

‘We all were waiting to see
what the ‘Olympics effect’ was going to be this summer, and despite the fact
that many UK-based owners of aircraft booked their annual vacations or
temporarily migrated overseas over the period, some putting their business jets
in for maintenance, this has been compensated for by new, first time users who
have come away with a positive impression about Oxford Airport and London
Heliport,” said James Dillon-Godfray, business development director.
“Furthermore, we are still seeing that the majority
of operators at both airports are booking merely a day or two ahead of
schedule, so no real change in their habits.”

“Oxford
remains outside the Olympics Restricted Zone surrounding London
which requires far tighter flight planning rules but also benefits from being
outside of the London Terminal Manoeuvring Area (LTMA) which is the busiest airspace
in Europe even outside of the Olympics.
It also boasts better opening hours than many of its peer airports, being able
to operate from 06:00 to midnight, seven days a week,” Dillon-Godfray added.

Robert Walters, business development manager said: “All our staff have been working flat out for several days, providing a comprehensive gateway service for passengers and crew members. After 12 months of planning and testing facilities, there is a buzz of excitement that it is now all happening and we are very happy that our systems are working well.”

The number of Olympic-related slots has been steadily rising over the past week, now standing at over 1,000 for the full Olympic period with two weeks still to go  Walters said that slots are still available to national and international customers.

“The slot booking system has been well-honed and proving to be much easier to engage than anticipated. Any operator wishing to book a slot at Biggin Hill should contact us now and we will ensure a speedy confirmation” Walters said.

At peak times, aircraft are parked on the subsidiary runway 11/29, which has been temporarily closed for the duration and incorporated  into the night-lit 24-hour security area.
